09:47 pm I can't believe we're still protesting this shit.

10:45 pm - Stuff The Forbidden Railway Two Austrian tourists travel by train to North Korea and spend a good 36 hours entirely unsupervised in a country that normally highly restricts tourist travel. Awesome pictures.
The George W. Bush Presidential Librarium Teehee.
The Guardian charts its swear-word usage.
Fake products that should be real products: the tauntaun sleeping bag I would totally buy one of these.

10:39 pm Today I learned that giant pandas are, in fact, bears. I had always been taught that while pandas LOOK like bears, they are more closely related to raccoons. When I went to the freaking panda research center in China, no one ever said, "hey, btw, these things are bears!" But apparently, ever since we've been able to, you know, check the DNA of things, we've known that they are bears (Wikipedia, the San Diego Zoo, and the National Zoo all confirm the established bear-ness of pandas). Am I the only one who was totally confused about this?

12:25 am - By the way My typing looks really cracked out lately because our CoS is a hardcore one-spacer and I am trying to change from decades of being a two-spacer to make her happy but now I apparently do a weird mish-mash of the two, which is obviously the most wrong way to go about it.

10:43 am - Gross Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal (Banana Bread Flavor): A great lesson in not stealing food from one's roommates
(Seriously, it was gross.)
(And yes, "no food stealing" is one of the two house rules, but it pales in significance compared to the one I have absolutely no intention of breaking, which is the one about not having coked-out sex with strangers in Patti's jacuzzi tub.)

06:53 pm Finally watched this video. Definitely got teary, which I do not do with movies, ever.
Plus it reminded me of how much I love Regina Spektor.

10:42 am - Non-QC-readers, feel free to move along Does anyone else just hate, hate, hate Dora's new hair? I am finding it incredibly distracting. It is so bad I'm not sure I even like Dora anymore.* It is so bad that if a friend of mine did that to her hair, I would actually tell her it looked bad.
* Although Dora's new 'do might have been accompanied by a new, bitchier attitude. Or bitchy in a less charming way. Am I making this up, or am I just so shallow that hair can inspire intense personal dislike?

02:04 pm - Suck on THAT, Friedman I love Matt Taibbi: This is Friedman’s life: He flies around the world, eats pricey lunches with other rich people and draws conclusions about the future of humanity by looking out his hotel window and counting the Applebee’s signs.
Previous delightful Friedman-bashing from Matt Taibbi

01:39 pm In Los Angeles, a jury that had heard a bootlegging case was itself put on trial after it drank the evidence. The jurors argued in their defense that they had simply been sampling the evidence to determine whether or not it contained alcohol, which they determined it did. However, because they consumed the evidence, the defendant charged with bootlegging had to be acquitted.
Happy Repeal Day!

Ahahahahahaha.
Also, 87 days.
Omg I need sleep.
Edit (11/22/08): So I just realized that I have no public entries between this one and the one about DFW's death - mildly freaky (there are a lot of friends-only posts, so it took me awhile to notice) - I hope it doesn't look totally crass. I posted the cartoon out of a sincere affection for a one of my favorite writers, and I like to think he had a sense of humor about himself and would have found it funny.

02:23 am Considering that I have about 9 hours in the day to call my own (and maybe more than a few of those should be spent sleeping), I should really do something about the ridiculous amount of time I spend on the internet. Probably I should just start leaving my computer at work.
