Pirates was in fact pretty bad. The plot was waaaay too convoluted, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were more boring and useless than in the first one, and even Johnny Depp couldn't save it. What a mess. I am really hoping everything will come together again in the third one.

i agree. at least right when i thought i couldn't take any more it ended. however it was pretty entertaining, and surprisingly less kid-friendly than the first one.

also, the drunk lady next to me and her brother were throwing popcorn at snotty teenage girls in front of us. made everything more awesome.

less kid-friendly...

There were at least one or two rather unhappy small children who had to be carried out of the theater I was in. My 10-year-old sister (who is pretty easily scared) wanted to come with us (us being my and my 13-year-old brother) to see it, and my mom (who is pretty strict about the movies the kids watch) didn't let her. Once I saw it, I decided that was definitely a good decision, since if she had seen it we all would have had to put up with long tedious stories about her nightmares about Davy Jones for at least a month.
Also, if I couldn't really follow the plot, I don't see how kids could. Then again maybe it was one of those things that only kids can get.

really? how sad :( i loved the first one, and i'll still see this one. though, i tend to have low expectations for these types of movies, so it's possible i'll still like it. i'm easily entertained when johnny's involved :)

I loved the first one too, and tend to approve of pretty much anything Johnny does.

I might have been a bit more lenient had I not read so many bad reviews before I saw the movie -- movie flaws are a lot more glaring when they've already been pointed out to you. My compulsive review reading is probably not a good habit.

ooh, that makes sense. i won't read anything, good or bad, about movies i want to see. i can't shut off their voices in my head, and i get distracted.
